Questions

Stump Grinding & Removal FAQs

What is the difference between stump grinding and stump removal?
Stump grinding mechanically chips the stump several inches below grade, leaving the roots to decay naturally. Full stump removal extracts the stump and major roots and leaves a larger hole. Grinding is faster, cleaner, and less expensive for most homeowners.
How deep do you grind stumps?
We typically grind stumps four to twelve inches below grade, deeper if you plan to replant or build over the area. Let us know your plans and we will grind accordingly.
Will the stump grow back after grinding?
No. Once the stump is ground below grade and the tree is removed, it will not regrow. Grinding also helps prevent pests that are attracted to decaying stumps.
